Female due chosen to lead industry body as it continues to navigate a landscape redefined by the coronavirus pandemic.
Following a call for nominations in November, the South African Clinical Research Association (SACRA) announced the list of candidates who will be steering the organization for the next four years starting in January 2021. The list of candidates were announced during the organization's year-end virtual meeting held on 09 December. To ensure continuity, the new executive committee will include members of the outgoing committee along with the newly-elected candidates. Nicolette Stott, who has led the organization through a tumultuous 2021, is also expected to offer a helping hand to the new team as they settle into their roles.
Bicky Mthombeni, who also served in the outgoing committee was chosen to steer the body as Chairperson over the 2021-2024 term. A PhD candidate, Bicky has extensive industry experience, having held a variety of positions across leading pharmaceutical companies such as Novo Nordisk, Pfizer and Sanofi. Nyeleti Rikhotso, who was elected to be her Deputy, also boasts deep industry experience having held roles across functions such as monitoring, quality assurance and project management. Portia is currently with the HIV Vaccine Trials Network. To comply with tax requirements, Leonard Lazarus, remains as the treasurer.
