Biocair opens its third South African office in Cape Town

Continuing its year of rapid expansion, leading GDP logistics provider opens yet another office in SA.

As part of the company’s global expansion efforts, Biocair has recently opened an office in Cape Town – its third in the country so far. Founded in 1986, the company already has offices in Johannesburg and Durban. According to its statement, “the new logistics hub in Cape Town provides additional capacity for a growing Operations team and will expand Biocair’s footprint in a country with the largest life sciences market on the African continent.” The year 2021 seems to have been a busy one for the global logistics firm which has over 35 years of experience supporting the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences sectors. This year alone, the company has opened offices in Guangzhou in China, Frankfurt in Germany, as well as Chicago in the United States.

Since its founding in 1986, Biocair has made great leaps on the global expansion front, opening its first U.S. office in Boston in 2002, and establishing its first Asian hub in Shanghai seven years later. It was subsequently acquired by DPDgroup in 2012. It made its entry into South Africa in 2016 and has since established itself as a leading brand across the industry. Led by Leonard Lazarus, its Regional Director for South Africa and India, the company’s local team has also been at the forefront of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The team led the transportation of the first 80,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccines shipped from Belgium to Johannesburg earlier in the year. To date, nearly 500,000 healthcare professionals have received the vaccine.
